8. In my opinion, one of the secrets to being happy is not taking other people's opinions of you to heart.

There are precisely three people on planet Earth whose opinions of me really, truly matter to me. Where all the rest are concerned, I don't give a damn what they think of me. Love me, hate me, ambivalent towards me... don't care.

That's not to say I walk around being a dirtbag and treating people like shit. I don't. I treat people with kindness and respect until they give me a reason not to, and after that I generally just avoid dealing with them unless I have no choice.

Life's too short and you can never please everyone. You're good enough, my dude. You always have been. If the people around you can't see that, the hell with them.
