5. Look at it a different way.

I too used to feel outraged at the hypocrisy. Then I paused to look at it from the Republican point of view. They think:

1. They are right and anybody opposing them is wrong.

2. Therefore, whatever "we" say or do is wrong. Whatever they say and do is right.

3. For them, the ends justify the means. They believe it's a battle between their worldview and ours. Theirs is a totalitarian fundamentalist religious point of view. In their worldview, the leader is always right. You always, always do what the leader says to do. (Their view of God matches this.)

4. We believe, instead, in a worldview seeking fairness, constitutional rights, the idea of justice. We believe in treating others as we would like to be treated. We view humans as inherently equal and deserving of equal rights and autonomy. Thus, we get outraged by hypocrisy and lies.

5. The Trumpsters don't want fairness. They want to win at any cost. They don't care about fairness, truth, justice, or the American way. They want a dictatorship, which they foolishly believe will be aligned with all their wants and needs.

So don't let them upset you. When you hear Leavitt lie while wearing that cute little cross, don't think "How can a Christian lie like that?!"

Instead, recognize our enemy. She's not a Christian like Jesus meant. She's something else, which Jesus warned about.
