2. True. I still fear that the felon has not completely lost his power to bully/blackmail "his" Senators into compliance.

I pray that he is truly losing his grip on Republican members of the House and Senate, but something is going on. Pushing this new version of SAVE through the House while the nation is caught up with the horrors of ICE and the Epstein/Trump files feels very calculated to me. I don't think they would have bothered if they didn't see a path to getting it through the Senate.
