Tells me he is either stupid, or doesn't want an end, or both. Most likely both.

You have to give Iran an off ramp to save some face. That's the only way peace every happens. Now I am sure Trump and his regime care zero about human rights and freedom in Iran. So the deal will probably be all about keeping the oil flowing while the Mullahs get to stay in power.
