Maya Phillips grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia, which was the Soviet Union at the time. She graduated from Saint Petersburg State University with a degree in German Language and Linguistics. Maya came to the U.S. in 1999 and became an American citizen in 2006. She has been working in translations and in property management in recent years. Mrs. Phillips currently serves on the Ramona Unified School District Board of Trustees.
