Im guessing he just sees Asian, African, Mexican, Arab, and Indian (American and East). You know people from the shithole places we shouldnt care about. If any further taxonomy is needed, skin tone is definitive. This was made only slightly made in jest.
The conflation only helps in dehumanizing ethnicities. Grouping countries or ethnicities together like this makes it easier to export preestablished hate to a new group or country. Its why fighting right wing propaganda is so difficult. Misdirect and make it simplistic and emotional. By the time one responds by explaining the cultural, religious, and ethnic differences between Palestinians and Iranians, youve lost part of the audience. Also, it has the added benefit of putting the explainer on the defense as a supporter of the actions being criticized. Its even more effective when those actions are atrocious This tactic is used rather clumsily by Trump, but it doesnt seem to be so clumsy that he loses more support than he gains. I know he had me thinking about the horrors of the October 7 attacks while writing this response that started with mere snark.
Just adding in response to several posters correct statements about the whiteness of some people from the region. When I say non-white Im gesturing at what many Americans consider non-white at this time, regardless of skin tone and eye color. My statements here are a generalization and there are sure to be cases that fall through the cracks in both its facts and logic. It seems race might start at skin color, but certainly doesnt end there.
