In reply to the discussion: Trump approval now at 33% (Mass Amherst poll). [View all]Wicked Blue
(8,868 posts)His job approval numbers have hovered around a low of 37% for many months. I've never seen them go lower until now.
Every time I've seen a news headline announcing that his numbers have dropped, it's nonsense. When you read the story, it's clear the percentage had remained at 37% or slightly more.
This is the first time I've seen a shift in his job approval ratings. The 33% figure may not seem like much, but a 4% shift is a significant number - it represents one out of every 25 people polled. With a voting age population estimated at 262 million, this could represent a shift of as many as 655,000 possible voters. It's more than the populations of Vermont and Wyoming.
And look at the turnout at Saturday's No Kings protest. The media seems to have settled on 8 million as the number of participants. However the corporate media has always under-counted protests organized by opponents of the status quo, and I have seen the number 9 million floated around here and there.
Even some MAGAts seem to be getting sick of the gas prices, the high cost of food, the possibility of a ground war in Iran that would claim many American lives, the increasing job layoffs and more.
Let us hope this is the beginning of a downward trend in his numbers.
