People look around and decide they can't afford a(nother) kid. That's it. It IS that simple. The Great Recession "recovery" was not universal, and everything else since then has just made it worse for so, so many Americans.

Too many people in their 20s and 30s are a) just scraping by as they are, or b) doing fine at the moment and prefer that to just scraping by with a(nother) kid.
