In reply to the discussion: BREAKING: three *more* women have come forward to @cnn.com and accuse Rep. Eric Swalwell of sexual misconduct... [View all]hlthe2b
(114,107 posts)and remembering our own Gillibrand-led mob that painted him "guilty" (of something, though a misguided comedy routine never seemed the horrific "bit" for them to hang their hats on, but they certainly hung Al sans "trial"--yes, I have still not forgiven ANY of them for that)
So, I say that only to mention that sometimes the RW is more than happy to solicit "volunteers" to turn on a Dem powerful figure (or one they perceive as a "threat." Do we really think they have not employed a team of PIs to investigate Swalwell and so many other Dems? Finding this woman made accusations (and perhaps others), do we really think they would not approach this or other women to "offer personal benefit" by escalating their accusations and going public, whether true or not?
And, while this feminist wants women to be taken seriously (Epstein victims as well), I also don't want us to be stupid, gullible, or "set up". Given the clear opportunity for this to be NOT as it might SEEM, I think these women need to be investigated and not simply their allegations. That includes any corroborating friends.
