As for our surviving this, I'll borrow a line from a movie in which Jimmy Malone (Connery) asks Ness (Costner) 'What are you(we) prepared to do?'

In the 60's those fighting for the right to vote engaged in PEACEFUL demonstrations and marches in an apartheid segregationist/ supremacist state, during which America and the world got the opportunity to see the beatings the violence, the venom of the enforcers, and were horrified by what they saw.

The protests allowed the supremacists to reveal THEMSELVES, for who and what they were.

Perhaps that time has come again.
