getting excited about a country that nearly exterminated this lands indigenous people, made and broke treaties at will, kidnapped and enslaved people from foreign lands to build this country, all in the name of "manifest destiny." 
Because some invisible, angry sky daddy loved white European invaders more than anyone else. 
A country where women are considered second-rate citizens. A country where people with different colored skin are marginalized and made to feel inferior to "whitey." A country where people, who don't identify with the "norms" (whose freaking "norms"?) of sexual classification, are vilified and attacked.
That doesn't even scratch the surface of our current far-right-wing, fascist, shitheels who want to tear the government down to the ground and replace it with a non-elected dictator. So there's that.
Excuse me if I sit this one out. This is not the "best country in the world." Not. Even. Close.
I'll "celebrate" by staying home and avoiding a country full of ridiculous dullards' foolishness. But that's just me.
