(23,493 posts)My ophthalmologist had stated that July 4th is a nightmare because he is inevitably called for emergency services because idiots damage or destroy their eyes via fireworks or other stupid nonsense.
I live close to the PA border, so people here drive 20 minutes or so, just across the border to firework shops there where they are legal.
My dog used to be inconsolable during the fireworks, and even after he went completely deaf, he would still get upset because he could feel the booms.
This shit is complete nonsense to me, ESPECIALLY during these times.
And to me? Being patriotic during these terrible times doesn't mean rah-rah praising your country. It means calling out your country for falling from its once greatness. It means scolding your country for embarrassing those who actually gave their lives and limbs, only to have it be ruined by an orange creature. It means recognizing things as they ARE, not how we wish they were.
