But at least early on it was a decent tool to keep in touch with others (at times somewhat passively).

Oddly enough my sister was part of the original group of universities when she had an account back around 2003. She was visiting and showed it to me. Seemed creepy at the time and almost a kind of a way to stalk people.

There were several times when I posted an update or saw someone else’s about when and then we had a spontaneous meet up. Fun stuff. So there were some positives then.

Now? Who knows. Most people I know stopped updating years ago. I did right after Cambridge analytica. I have also kept my account deactivated most of the time since. I’ve logged back on a few times and it feels overrun by spam, irrelevant ads, and bots. It’s mostly unusable at this point.
