Sorry, but, even if this helps people find their own closure, this is completely disgusting. I feel like the line between “this is a simulation” and “this is actually your dead relative reaching out from the afterlife” can be blurred so easily here. I feel like it would be easy for grieving people to engage in magical thinking that they’re somehow actually talking to their dead relative, which opens them up for exploitation (which, in our capitalist system, is going to be the primary motive for this type of AI implementation).

I don’t see this as anything but evil and predatory. It’s not helping their grief. It’s giving desperate grieving people the illusion that their loved one has miraculously come back to life, and, I quite frankly find that gross - especially if it’s for profit.
