In reply to the discussion: What was the last Mel Gibson movie you watched before finding out he's an asshole? [View all]Jack Valentino
(5,452 posts)22. I prefer to think of Mel Gibson as a combination of his
on-screen personas, which I enjoyed but of course were just an act---
rather than the time, for instance, when he was stopped for drunk driving
and made antisemitic remarks against the cops or whatever it was, for instance...
I will reserve the right to continue to watch the Mel Gibson films
which I have enjoyed, and happen to own---
like 'Bird On A Wire' with Goldie Hawn, for instance,
where he played a rather far-left character who came of age in the 1960s...
but at this point, I certainly would not PAY to watch ANY
old or new, knowing what I know now about his political opinions---
but that information does not negate whatever film artistry he may have shown,
earlier in his life--- IMHO

Jason Isaacs was great as Colonel Tavington. He always plays good villains. N/T

I was always amazed at how many loved Braveheart. I have tried repeatedly and just can't finish it.

I wasn't interested to see a dude getting tortured for hours so I never watched the whole thing.
