I don't know about them changing he airport identifier. Those are pretty ingrained in all communications and radar data. They might run into some headwinds. There is more to just putting Dumbo initials on paper. A lot of reprogramming here and around the world.

My airport here wanted to change but it still bears its Army Air Corps identifier, even if the name was changed,
