Since you're the go to person, it's time to get some payback. Don't be afraid to ask for it.

Back surgery is one of those things that has people saying they made a mistake, the surgery failed, it hurts worse now that it ever did before. It does get better but it takes a lot longer than soft tissue surgeries.

You will get through this. You will manage to get the pain down to a dull roar and finally to something bearable. This is one of the few times you'll be able to get away with being a whiny crybaby, so I suggest you milk it for all it's worth. It won't last long.
