UPDATE: We have assigned a number of people to serve as temporary group Hosts during this testing period, and I think we have enough for now. I don't think we are going to assign any more group hosts during the testing period. Thank you to everyone who helped out. Now I will lock this thread.

Note: This is an announcement about Group Hosts, not Forum Hosts.

A number of people have already approached me about serving as hosts in the various groups here on DU3. I think it's great that people are enthusiastic and want to help out. It just so happens that we need your help to test out the functionality.

Since our new software is still in it's testing phase, we are not ready to assign the permanent hosts for any groups. However, we would like to set people up as hosts in various groups so that you all can test out the software and make sure everything works properly. Once the testing period is finished, we are going to wipe out the whole database, including people who have been assigned as hosts.

So, if you want to serve as a TEMPORARY host in any group, here's what you have to do:

1. Make sure you have posted a message in the group where you want to serve as a host. (If you have never posted in the group, I cannot set you up as a host.)

2. Post a reply in this thread telling me which group you would like to host. Include a direct link to your post in the group where you want to serve. I need that link in order to give you host powers.

3. I will only assign ONE temporary host to each group. After that first host has been assigned, then that first host has the power to grant host status to anyone else. So, if a host is already assigned to a group, then you need to contact that host to become a host.
