Homeland Security raids Zipps locations in Phoenix area criminal probe

Federal authorities entered multiple Zipps Sports Grill locations in metro Phoenix on Jan. 26 as part of a still-evolving investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. ... Federal search warrants were being served at 15 locations, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for Arizona.
Zipps locations across the region appeared to be shut down. Closed restaurants included one at Park Central Mall and others at 32nd Street and Shea Boulevard, 16th Street and Bethany Home Road and 48th Street and Warner Road in Phoenix and at Camelback and Miller roads in Scottsdale. The Mill Avenue location in Tempe was also shut down, with its patio surrounded by police tape.
Workers were led out of a closed Zipps Sports Grill at 59th and Utopia avenues in Glendale by federal agents. ... Authorities appeared to leave the Park Central location with boxes of documents at about 5:40 p.m. Within 20 minutes, however, a second wave of masked law enforcement in camouflage uniforms arrived.
A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Phoenix was not immediately available for comment about the matter.
