We are going to pay $5 per pound wholesale for 80,000 tons of beef, not to mention shipping etc...

And this is gonna reduce costs how exactly?

This sounds more like a negotiated floor on beef prices to protect Us farmers?
On that note, farmers in the USA average $4.90 per lb hanging weight.

I just searched, and according to a couple of websites, the USA produced almost 27 billion with a B pounds of beef in 2024. That's 13 million 500 thousand tons of beef. That means what's being introduced into the market represents about 0.6% of the entire beef market.

This will raise prices even more.
Just an ignorant point of view, as I'm no farmer and not familiar with things if this nature except that my bullshit meter went of the charts reading the Hill's report.
