Yesterday

When he was on the Charleston County Council. He got that job by running as a Republican in a red area and parroting the hard right line. It was always just about personal advancement - he never had any true core beliefs.
And don’t forget that he was appointed to the Senate position so the SC GOP (and Tricki Nikki Haley) could show that they would accept the occasional black person as long as they toed the line and didn’t support any civil rights nonsense.
