ship collecting LNG off the coast of British Columbia in Canada on the Pacific to Germany through the Panama Canal would be traded for an LNG ship going from the Gulf of Mexico to Asia the other way through the Panama Canal. The LNG ship coming off the coast of BC would then go to Asia, while the LNG ship in the Gulf of Mexixo would turn and go to Germany. Neither ship then has to go through the Panama Canal. This is apparently common. They just swap.
