Farmers have to plan ahead, they need to know there's a market for what they produce. This takes time, seeds need to be ordered and delivered. And there's only a short period of time when many can of these crops can be planted. It then takes time to grow, then harvested. But this all begins with having an idea of who/where you're going to ship to in the first place.
