(297 posts)39. A primary school teacher would love to have them.
I would give each of my students a large piece of aluminum foil and ask them to make a boat that would hold pennies and float. They added pennies one at a time to see how many it would hold before capsizing. They could keep all the pennies it held. The kids that made flat barge type boats always had the most pennies.
I save up all my coins and give them out to my grandkids who like using them to play store with the shops they build with their legos.

I've had them forever, maybe over 20 years since we've lived in our house. It is a huge jar, now about full.

Nowadays I (infrequently) use the Coinstar kiosk/machine in the local supermarket
