You can do this. Make sure you know what is supposed to happen after. If they are that short staffed we have to do whatever we can to make sure we are OK. I cannot imagine being on either side of a short staffed hospital. Ask the doc what you need then try to make sure that happens. I was an ICU nurse in the WAY back and we ran ourselves ragged trying to make it all happen and we were fully staffed. Sadly we have to take care of ourselves as much as possible now.
