2. We thought relatives lived in haunted houses

When my kids were young, they stayed at their aunt's house pretty often, and there were several eerie events, including things missing, then turning up in plain sight, noises from empty rooms and so on. Once, my sister-in-law, her husband and I were out together. We stopped for a drink, and we started talking about their haunted house. My s-i-l mentioned that she thought their poltergeist had taken a blouse. It was bright red with batwing sleeves (remember those?) She said she'd looked all over the house and couldn't find it. Her husband muttered that the ghost didn't take it. My s-i-l insisted. He finally said, "It's in the back of my truck. I thought it was mine and wore it to work. The guys razzed me so much, I took it off and threw it in the truck." I still laugh.

I'm betting now that some of the things the kids told us were engineered by their older cousins. But at the time, we took all of their stories seriously, maybe till the shirt. lolol
