(66,555 posts)19. high school: typing (I hear that's obsolete.) middle school: printing and drafting/mechanical drawing
        My middle school had mandatory occupational classes for both boys and girls.
home economics, sewing, woodworking, power & metal, drafting, printing
I got my first real access to a computer in shop class (power & metal).

        While it hasn't disappeared entirely, your presumption that it's "still a required course" is wrong.

        i chatted with a  retired teacher  but still subs , says many schools dont teach civics anymore .

        I got terrible grades in that, and I was just remembering the apron. I tried to make a fell apart when I presented it.

        That was my experience also. I went to Jr. High and High School in Dallas, Texas.
