100. I'm so sorry

Every time I lose one it seems to hurt more. But I always adopt again. My ritual involves purposeful tears. I grab an adult beverage, pull up to the computer and google “poems about dogs”. We are in elite company, those of us who are crushed by the passing of a fur-friend. I read through the tears, pause when I have to, and marvel at what we share. Here’s one of my favorites I memorized.

Man awoke by the fire and said “What is wild dog doing here?” Woman replied “He is no longer wild dog, but “first friend”, and he will be loyal for ever, and ever.”

I think that’s actually attributed to Rudyard Kipling.
