If you don't put the item you just scanned into a bag right away the register yells at you to put the item in the checkout area. They only activated this feature recently and it is very annoying. I asked the employee who helps customers in the self check area why this was happening and she told me it was because of an increase in theft.

Giants customer service has steadily deteriorated over the past few years. They have also continued to raise prices on certain items and I doubt they will lower the prices anytime soon.
