The event took place just days after Trump supporters rioted in the Capitol.
Around 11 a.m. Saturday, there were about eight cars gathered on 4th Street North, just before the Howard Frankland Bridge. By noon, that number had grown to around 20 cars, many of them decked out with flags to support President Donald Trump and America.
The Tampa Bay Trump Train supporters gathered to wave flags and drive across the region, in support of Trumps presidency. It was less than two weeks before the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and three days after Trumps supporters stormed the Capitol Building while Congress certified the election. Another Trump Train event had been scheduled in Bradenton, but was canceled after a threat, according to one attendee who declined to give his name.
People have very high emotions right now because of the latest events, said Christine Hanlon, who wore a Make America Great Again hat while attending her second Trump Train.
The 50-year-old from Pasco County said she disagrees with the rioting at the Capitol and does not believe it should have happened. She came to Saturdays parade because she wanted to show support for Trump in his remaining days in office.
