Leaving for a mainland trip in polar vortex [View all]

We live in East Hawaii Island, and I am heading to the Seattle area alone and then up into British Columbia(family up there).

I booked this trip last year thinking that the cherry blossoms, daffodils, and crocuses would be showing their fresh beauty. No way did I imagine I was heading into sub-freezing weather. Add to that the measles epidemic in Washington State and I have autoimmune issues.

I am getting dressed in layers, including a leather coat, gloves, and scarf I will carry and put on once the plane lands in Seattle. Boots, too, but I will have to wear them and likely sweat in them until we land.

Lots of anxiety about the plane icing up high in the sky.

Wish me luck! My best to all of you.

Aloha
