Bernie Sanders tells Minnesotans to "get rid of your governor" at Minnesota campaign event [View all]

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vermont, ventured out to Minnesota Friday evening to vouch for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz.

The senator told Minnesotans to “get rid of your governor” shortly after 7 p.m. at the crowded BlackStack Brewing in St. Paul, as he advocated for Minnesota’s governor to make the move to Washington, D.C.

“I want you to get rid of your governor,” Sanders said. “Get him out of Minnesota, (and) send him to Washington.”

Sanders and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison pitched the Harris ticket’s goals of supporting reproductive rights and an inclusive democracy. He said that the economy needs to work in a way to support people of all backgrounds, and not just those with corporate power.
