2. I have been running around on that pier since I was born.

Okay, maybe not the first few years, but once I could walk and run. One of the cottages where I would spend summers is about a mile south of it. It used to be right in front of the 7-11 by Kitty Hawk Kites. We would cross the road and go climb Jockey's Ridge so we could see all of the area and then run down as fast as we could. (And end up rolling down about half of the way and end up with a mouth and nose full of sand. Didn't care...)
