3. It sounds like these were mostly "uncollectible" debts

I don't have any personal knowledge of this program, but it sounds like some wealthy Americans are using this program to do some good for less fortunate folks.

For all we know, some of these debtors might have already died, but their families are stuck with medical bills they can't pay. I think this is a really good and generous thing that will help those desperate, needy families. We could even call it "Christ-like" ...
