Fire at Cumberland County Election Commission under investigation [View all]

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A fire that significantly damaged the building housing Cumberland County’s election commission, highway department and maintenance is under investigation.

Crossville Fire Chief Chris South told 6 News that firefighters responded Thursday night after a 911 call reported the fire at the warehouse style building, which also has office space, on Northside Lane at 9:04 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire conditions at the building. The Cumberland County and Fairfield Glade Fire Departments also assisted with the fire. In total, approximately 65 firefighters helped battle the blaze, which took roughly an hour to contain. The firefighters continued working through most of the night to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but there was significant damage to the building and equipment inside, South said.
