Perhaps he was just distracted by being back, and uncomfortable with the whole family situation. It could not have been easy. Some of the family was pretty chilly (particularly Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie). Some much more welcoming. The entire family was so obviously grief stricken. Sometimes that can heal a rift. Sometimes it can deepen it.

He should be heading back to his wife and son, real soon, maybe with some degree of healing.
