I have been using two wooden spoons forever now. They both need something, but I didn't know what. I knew it had to be some kind of oil or something. Everywhere I searched, I only saw time and again NOT to use vegetable oil (it becomes rancid and you don't want that). Then, I saw a place that said to use food grade mineral oil. I asked for that at the grocery store thinking the mineral oil they sell at the box stores might not be the right kind. They didn't even know what that was.
So, this new set of wooden spoons I just bought has been sitting there unused until I can find the right thing to use to condition them before I start using them. w00t! Now, I will be able to use my new wooden spoons and do something for my poor pitiful old wooden spoons too.
Thank you for this post. I heard about this group tonight and looked it up. The first thing I saw was this OP. How lucky is that?
