Florida man drives flaming car down highway, charged with DUI

MELBOURNE, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man has been cooling down in jail over the weekend after driving a flaming car down U.S. 192, the Brevard County Sheriff said.

Deputies first responded to the scene at around 6:20 p.m. on Friday after getting reports that a sedan traveling down the road was putting off heavy smoke before becoming engulfed in flames.

When he arrived, the responding deputy said he saw a 75-foot stretch of land that was freshly charred, with some parts still on fire.

Brevard County Fire Rescue was also on scene fighting the vehicle fire, but the flames had already sparked a wildfire that rapidly spread hundreds of feet down the road. ................(more)
