## 5 Steps to Eradicate and Control
Because cucumber beetles are highly mobile and reproduce rapidly, eradication requires a multi-layered strategy rather than a single spray. [10, 11, 12]
## 1. Implement Physical Exclusion [13]

* Install Floating Row Covers: Cover your young crops with lightweight, spun-bond fabric immediately after planting. This physically prevents adult beetles from landing on and feeding on young, vulnerable seedlings.
* Remove Covers for Pollination: Remember to temporarily remove the covers once the plants begin to flower so bees can pollinate them. [14, 15, 16, 17, 18]

## 2. Apply Organic Remedies [19]

* Spray Kaolin Clay: Mix kaolin clay with water and spray it thoroughly onto plant leaves. It creates a powdery, non-toxic white barrier that deters beetles from feeding or laying eggs. [20, 21, 22, 23, 24]
* Apply Neem Oil: Spray a pure neem oil solution under and on top of the leaves. Neem oil acts as an anti-feedant and disrupts the hormonal growth stages of the beetles. [25, 26]
* Use Pyrethrin Sprays: For a fast, organic knockdown of heavy infestations, use a certified organic pyrethrin-based spray directly on active adult beetles. [27, 28, 29, 30]

## 3. Eliminate Soil-Dwelling Larvae [31]

* Introduce Beneficial Nematodes: Water the soil around your plants with microscopic beneficial nematodes (specifically Heterorhabditis or Steinernema species). These organisms hunt and destroy cucumber beetle larvae and pupae deep in the dirt before they can emerge as adults. [32, 33, 34, 35, 36]

## 4. Deploy Yellow Sticky Traps [37]

* Hang Traps Near Foliage: Cucumber beetles are highly attracted to the color yellow. Place bright yellow sticky cards just above the plant canopy to trap adult beetles before they can mate. [38, 39, 40, 41]

## 5. Practice Strict Garden Hygiene [42]

* Hand-Pick Beetles: Inspect your plants early in the morning when the beetles are sluggish. Knock them off the leaves directly into a bucket of soapy water. [43, 44, 45]
* Clean Up Garden Debris: Adult beetles overwinter in dead weeds, fallen leaves, and crop residue. Thoroughly clear out and compost or destroy all garden debris at the end of the growing season to prevent them from returning next spring. [46, 47, 48, 49, 50]

To help tailor the best solution for your garden, what specific crops are they attacking right now, and are you trying to keep your setup strictly organic?
