by Christian Cameron. Cameron's style and subject matter are like Bernard Cornwell's. Heroes in armor, fearless and dripping gore; one difference being that Cornwell's characters revel in it while Cameron's complain about all the killing, but, being Greeks, rationalize it with philosophy. Tyrant is set in the period after Alexander's death. War is a constant. Cameron is well versed in the weapons and tactics of the time and the series is broad in scope, ranging from Odessa to Alexandria. There are Amazons and elephants and some really nasty villains. All in all a ripping yarn. Highly recommended. My library only had the 1st of this series. I've bought 2 on Amazon for kindle.
