FIFA suspends Spanish soccer federation president over conduct, unwanted kiss

FIFA announced Saturday that it has suspended Spanish soccer federation president Luis Rubiales while a committee investigates his behavior at the Women's World Cup final, where he kissed a player on the lips. Nearly the entire coaching staff has resigned amid the controversy.

Rubiales refused to resign from his position at an emergency meeting on Friday. He faced intense pressure from the Spanish government, players, soccer clubs and officials to leave his post.

Spain beat England 1-0 to take home the World Cup title.

"FIFA reiterates its absolute commitment to respect the integrity of all persons and therefore condemns with the utmost vigor any behavior to the contrary," the organization said in a statement.
