The link given for uesp is a great resource.

When I first got Skyrim, getting the mouse to behave was almost a deal-breaker for me. It actually involved getting a better mouse AND editing .ini files. Big Bummer, but ultimately (patience is a virtue) worth it. Skyrim is great!

The default control layout appears to be set up for playing left-handed. That can be tricky to change if you want to play right-handed, but there are tutorials.

Just about anything involving the UI can be greatly improved with mods, provided you are on a PC.
