but I sure don't like the mythology that it contains... that one has to endure suffering here on earth in order to enter heaven. One CAn be good and well-off. It's not as easy, I guess (I say I guess because I've never been in that situation)... but I believe it can be done.

This verse and so many others teach that the way to get to heaven is to accept and endure, rather than seek change in your environment. Just a pet peeve of mine... ymmv
