It also ignores the fact that the levitical priesthood's long since discontinued and can't be resurrected without first going through a pretty huge ME war, even if a lot of kohanim still claim ancestry (and some genetic markers might indicate they're not all wrong ... emphasis on 'might'). I doubt that the Levites would have looked at Catholic priests, say, and pronounced them Levitical.
