My grandmother held a position in the women’s auxiliary. I lived with them for many years n I remember a different person at the dinner table almost all the time. My grandfather would bring home a person, most likely homeless, and they washed their clothes, n fed them. I like to think they found jobs or located family members for these people but I was just a kid n don’t know. I do know my grandfather picked up a Marine hitchhiker, brought him home and soon my mom n dad were married! I’m 74 n I think my dad was soon to be discharged from WWII and then along came my sister and me. All my memories of my grandparents are how they were so charitable and always willing to help. I’m grateful I got their genes
