(22,336 posts)done good with Wikileaks and still be a rapist.
People seem to have an odd black/white idea of good and bad. If he did one thing good, then he couldn't possibly have done something bad. He is good and can only be good. And if people are suggesting that he might have done something bad, they are saying he is bad and everything he has done must be bad.
But that's not how people are. It is entirely possible that he did Wikileaks for good reasons, and that it was a good thing, but that he's also guilty of rape. We need a trial to find out about the rape charges. If the case is as weak as people claim (and I have no idea as I'm not an expert on this) then that will become clear pretty quickly in the trial.
But we can't just not charge people with rape when they've been accused because we like something else they've done. Would we feel that way about charges for any other crime? Or is it just rape?
