1. Good for them. I remember when I first saw the Cathedral, the building of which began in 1248.

A beautiful cathedral, striking.

More striking are the mortal shell craters in its walls that evoke the damage done during WW2, but are also testament to it's strength and resilience.

The city itself, in contrast to other European cities, tells the visitor that something odd happened in the past: most of the city is relatively new because it was leveled by bombs during the war.
