In reply to the discussion: We definitely had the better TG dinner yesterday than The Privileged at Maga-Lardo :) [View all]Jilly_in_VA
(13,628 posts)We went away for the first Thanksgiving in my memory. Went to a small resort in PA for their Thanksgiving buffet, and it was delightful! Not having to be doing something for anyone for the first Thanksgiving in my memory, whether it was cooking or working, was an incredible plus, and I think that's what my husband planned. We arrived the evening before, had dinner, slept in, got up, had coffee, and waited semi-patiently for our searing to be called. Then---well, all I can say is YUM! There was turkey (real thing, carved from the bird), ham, and roast pork, with all the trimmings, several choices of veg, salad, and three choices of dessert---pumpkin pie of course, cheesecake, and chocolate cake. Also an entire beverage station, plus the bar was open for anyone who wanted wine or spirits. Now I think I want to do something like that for the rest of my Thanksgivings on earth!
