17. A pound of hamburger, which I bought yesterday...

was $10.99. For ONE pound. Hamburger used to be the meat of choice because it was so cheap, and you could do so much with it. Chicken is no better. I remember when Obama's finance people were talking about changing the price index (or whatever it's called... I can't think this early in the morning!)... they said people would just move from the more expensive to a lesser expense meat. There is no such thing.

I bought a package of ham hocks the other day for a pot of beans. The damn ham hocks were over $10! They're getting premium prices from us for pigs feet! And I have to fight back the tears for the pig, AND the price.
