In reply to the discussion: People ask why I post so much. I'll tell you why. [View all]usonian
(27,310 posts)52. I looked at hosting sites that sell prints for you.
It's too competitive for the effort it takes, And I look at my photos as personal expression. My Dad was an artist and sold none of his paintings. He did commercial art for a living.
I also don't see photography as competitive. It's self expression! One imprints one's soul in a fine picture. Not a competitive sport. It's a private conversation.
See Joseph Conrad:
https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Nigger_of_the_%22Narcissus%22/Preface
To arrest, for the space of a breath, the hands busy about the work of the earth, and compel men entranced by the sight of distant goals to glance for a moment at the surrounding vision of form and colour, of sunshine and shadows; to make them pause for a look, for a sigh, for a smilesuch is the aim, difficult and evanescent, and reserved only for a very few to achieve. But sometimes, by the deserving and the fortunate, even that task is accomplished. And when it is accomplishedbehold!all the truth of life is there: a moment of vision, a sigh, a smileand the return to an eternal rest.
All that said, I'd love to find a way to share photos with DU'ers. Copy and print. I'll add that to my priority list.
